A Funeral Mass for Gerald F. “Jerry” DeSchepper, 72, of Davenport, was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 21, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Long Grove. Visitation was one hour prior to Mass on Saturday at the church. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded and inurnment with military honors was in Rock Island National Cemetery at 10 a.m. Monday, July 23. The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, assisted the family with arrangements.
Mr. DeSchepper died Sunday, July 15, 2018, at Manor Care, Davenport.
Gerald DeSchepper was born July 20, 1945, in Davenport, the son of Francis and Alice (Hoste) DeSchepper.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1965-1969.
He worked as a truck driver for Eastern Iowa Recyclers, retiring in 2013.
His hobbies were watching television and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Jo; his daughters, Dawn Hornke and Sarah (Wayne) Kelley; a son, David (Nancy) Fox; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his mother, Alice DeSchepper; and his siblings, Charles, Jeanne, Marilyn, Rosemary, Thomas, William, Barbara, and Gary.
He was preceded in death by his father.
