Obituary: Gerald Arp

A memorial service for Gerald William “Butch” Arp, 76, was held at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 20, at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation was Wednesday, July 19, from 4-7 p.m. at the mortuary.

Mr. Arp died Monday, July 17, 2017, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Gerald Arp was born Jan. 17, 1941, in Davenport, the son of William and Valeria (Kelling) Arp. He graduated from Durant High School in 1959.

He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army National Guard from 1963-1969.

He married Ginger Fawcett on Oct. 7, 1961, in Davenport.

He farmed in rural Scott and Muscatine counties before and after his Army service.

Survivors include his wife; daughters, Jennifer (Ed) Broders, Davenport, and Jill (Dale) Ellsworth, Walcott; and a stepsister-in-law, Ann Dudgeon.

Memorials may be made to Camp Courageous or to the Pine Creek Grist Mill.
