Obituary: Garry Bovee

A celebration of life service for Garry L. Bovee, 73, of Davenport, will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 31, at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service on Thursday at the mortuary. Private burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery.

Mr. Bovee died Sunday, May 27, 2018.

Garry Bovee was born March 3, 1945, in Antigo, Wis., the son of Albert and Anna (Beltz) Bovee.

He served in the U.S. Navy for four years, and then served two years in the Army Reserves.

He married Carol Gleckler in 1971 in Griggsville, Ill.

He retired from John Deere in January of 2009 after 32 years of service. He also worked and mowed lawns for Wallace Gardens.

He was a volunteer at Good Samaritan for 25 years.

His hobbies were watching sports and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife; his daughters, Angelia Bovee, Moline, and Kristen (Dave) Abrahamson, Superior, Wis.; a son, Steve (Nicole) Bovee, Marshalltown; his grandchildren, Rebecca Hasselman, Chantel Bovee, Molly Abrahamson, Will Bovee, Trent Bovee, and Chaz Abrahamson; and a sister, Cathie Bovee, Davenport.

He was preceded in death by a sister and a brother.

Memorials may be made to the Good Samaritan Coffee Shop.
