Obituary: Ember Madsen

A funeral service for Ember M. (Reid) Madsen, 69, of Bettendorf, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 17, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 16, from 5-7 p.m. at the mortuary.

Mrs. Madsen died Saturday, Jan. 11, 2020, at Davenport Lutheran Home.

Ember Reid was born April 2, 1950, in Natchez, Miss., the daughter of Ernest and Reba (Conn) Reid.

She married Richard Madsen on April 8, 1973, in Alexandria, La.

She worked as a legal secretary for a number of firms and was active in the Legal Secretary Association, where she was recognized as Legal Secretary of the Year for 1993-1994.

She and her husband were members of a number of churches, most recently Christ’s Family Church in Davenport.

Her hobbies were reading and spending time with friends and family.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Leah (David) Miller, Bettendorf; a son, Russell (Mandy) Madsen, San Diego, Calif.; her grandchildren, Christian, Lauryn, McCarty and Makenna Miller, and Brandon, Reid and Chase Madsen; her sisters, Era (Randy) Roberts, Elena (David) Smith, and Evodna (John) Springer; and a brother-in-law, Jack Smith.

She was preceded in death by her father, Ernest Reid; her mother, Reba McDonald; her father and mother-in-law, Eugene and Rosella Madsen; and a sister-in-law, RoseAnne (Madsen) Smith.
