Obituary: Elaine Peekenschneider

A funeral service for Elaine D. Peekenschneider, 84, of Bettendorf, was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 2, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Visitation was two hours prior to the funeral on Thursday at the mortuary. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park.

Mrs. Peekenschneider died Tuesday, April 30, 2019, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Elaine Mayerhofer was born May 31, 1934, in New Liberty, the daughter of David and Augusta (Ganzer) Mayerhofer.

She married Dale Peekenschneider on Aug. 5, 1951, in Big Rock. He preceded her in death.

She worked for many years at the original I-80 Truck Stop and then later at Miss Mamie’s as a waitress.

Her hobbies were leather tooling, doing jigsaw puzzles, spending time with her family and knitting.

Survivors include her children, Linda (John) Jackson, Craig (Barb) Peekenschneider, and Gene Peekenschneider; her grandchildren, Bill (Nicole) Jackson, Jeff (Amanda) Jackson, Brad (Marcy) Peekenschneider, and Eric (Jill) Peekenschneider; nine great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Delores (Ott) Olsen, Barb (Roy) Riedesel, and Glenn (Karen) Mayerhofer.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Bernice, and a brother, Darriel.
