Obituary: Dorothy Hillier

A funeral service for Dorothy V. Hillier, 90, of Davenport, was held at noon on Monday, Oct. 8, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Davenport. Burial will be in Pine Hill Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, Oct. 7, from noon – 3 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Miss Hillier died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2018, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Dorothy Hiller was born Oct. 11, 1927, in Davenport, the daughter of Willard and Frieda (Erichsen) Hillier. She graduated from Davenport High School in 1945.

She worked as a stenographer for the Ralston Purina Company, at Investors Diversified Services, Alcoa, as an office manager for TV Guide, and became a contract administrator for the Bendix Litton Systems, retiring in 1991.

She was a past chairman of the American Business Women’s Association from

1979-1982, and was a member of Women of the Moose, American Association of Retired Persons, the Quad-City Times Plus 60 Club, and Trinity Lutheran Church.

Her hobbies were playing cards, dancing, and traveling.

Survivors include a niece, Jeanette (Danny) Santilli; a nephew, Christian (Carla) Popp; great-nieces, Nichole Clemons, Samantha Miller, and Jennifer Lennon; nine great-great-nieces; and three great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Frieda Popp and Euguene Popp.

Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, the American Macular Degeneration Foundation, or the American Heart Association.
