Obituary: Dorothy Bernauer

A funeral service for Dorothy I. Bernauer, 92, of Eldridge, formerly of Davenport, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 9 (today), at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial will in Fairmount Cemetery, Davenport. Visitation was Tuesday, May 8, from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Bernauer died Friday, May 4, 2018, at her home.

Dorothy Huffman was born July 2, 1925, in Kewanee, Ill., the daughter of Jessie and Myrtle (Talbot) Huffman.

She married Duane Dean in 1942 in Missouri. She later married Wayne Bernauer in 1964 in Dixon. He died in 1991.

She co-owned and operated Wayne Bernauer Plumbing & Heating in Los Angeles until 1986.

She was a member of the Independent Order of Foresters.

Her hobbies were sewing and reading.

Survivors include her daughters, Delight (Fred) Tabesh, Lake Elisnore, Calif., and Debby (Charles) Powell, Chandler, Texas; her sons, Dennis (Judy) Dean, Eldridge, and David (Lisa) Dean, Maquoketa; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Wayne, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Carter; her sisters, Barbara, Hazel, Frances, and Beverly; and her brothers, Donald and Tommy.
