Doris 'Dorie' Holst
A funeral service for Doris J. “Dorie” Holst, 78, of Walcott, was held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 19, at the Bentley Funeral Home, Durant. Interment was in the Durant Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, March 18, from 2-4 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mrs. Holst died Wednesday, March 14, 2018, at Courtyard Estates, Walcott.
Doris Hamann was born Dec. 20, 1939, in Davenport, the daughter of Walter and Ruth (Gulick) Hamann. She graduated from Bettendorf High School in 1958.
She married Kenneth Holst on June 16, 1961, in Davenport. He died July 8, 2007.
In earlier years, she worked as a telephone operator in Davenport. After her marriage, she and her husband were dairy and grain farmers in Scott County.
She and her husband were members of the Scott County Farm Bureau and the Mississippi Valley Milk Producers.
Her hobbies were golfing, bowling, dancing, animals, sewing, watching sports, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include a daughter, Debbie Holst, Walcott; a son, Brian Holst, Blue Grass; a daughter-in-law, Lisa Holst, Davenport; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Lois Frye; a brother, Donald Hamann; and a great-granddaughter, Sophia Hruby.
