A funeral service for Debra K. Smith, 65, of Donahue, will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2018 (today) at Park View Lutheran Church in Park View. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery in DeWitt. Visitation was Tuesday, Oct. 30, from 5-7 p.m. at Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge.
Mrs. Smith died Monday, Oct. 22, 2018, at her residence.
Debbie Hinkle was born Sept. 2, 1953, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the daughter of Marvin and Frances (Gravert) Hinkle. She graduated from North Scott High School and later earned an associate’s degree in computer sciences from Scott Community College.
She married John R. Smith on Dec. 17, 1983, at Park View Lutheran Church.
She worked as a land surveyor and was a member of the Iowa Land Surveyors.
She was a member of Park View Lutheran Church and the American Legion in Eldridge.
Her hobbies were gardening, reading, listening to music, landscaping, horses, traveling and spending time with her family.
Survivors include her husband; sons Daniel (Karla) Marti, Bellevue, Neb., Robert (Breanna) Marti, New Bern, N.C.; grandchildren, Derik Marti, Kyle Marti, Drake Marti, Jada Marti, Lilith Lupold and Gabriel Marti; sister, Pat (Ted) Claeys, DeWitt; and brother, Doug (Karma) Hinkle, DeWitt;
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Pamela Jo Hinkle.
