Obituary: Darrell Reynolds

A funeral service for Darrell Keith “Sam” Reynolds, 84, of Blue Grass, was held at noon on Friday, June 29, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Visitation was two hours prior to the service on Friday at the mortuary. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park.

Mr. Reynolds died Monday, June 25, 2018, at Manor Care, Davenport.

Darrell Reynolds was born Aug. 16, 1933, in Ottumwa, the son of Fred and Inez (Young) Reynolds.

He married Audrey Boyd on Jan. 5, 1953. She preceded him in death after 60 years of marriage. He later married Barb Stanger on Nov. 8, 2013.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, later serving in the National Guard for 31 years.

He served as a Davenport Police officer for many years, and he owned multiple businesses.

He was active with the Chicago Shriners Children’s Hospital fundraisers and parades.

His hobbies were golf, camping, woodworking, and riding motorcycles.

Survivors include his wife Barb; his children, Peggy (Lee) Hale, Becky (Tom) Ott, and Vickie (Norman) Sutton; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; his stepchildren, TamiJo (Lyle) Ledbetter, Brenda Barrett, and Kathi (Steven) Tharp; seven step-grandchildren; 12 step-great-grandchildren; a step-great-great-granddaughter; and a brother, Robert Reynolds.

In addition to his wife Audrey, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Rollin Reynolds and Jack Reynolds.
