Obituary: Dale Cooksey

A Celebration of Life service for Dale Allan Cooksey, 67, of Davenport, will be held from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, July 7, at the Knights of Columbus Hall on 35th Street in Davenport. Please feel free to wear your favorite fishing apparel. Per his wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Cooksey died Friday, June 29, 2018, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Dale Cooksey was born May 10, 1951, in Davenport, the son of Cecil and Lillian (Carson) Cooksey. He attended Davenport West High School.

He married Nancy Heisler on Feb. 10, 1990.

He worked at Red Jacket Pumps for 19 years, and later with Oscar Mayer (Kraft Foods) for 20 years, retiring in March of 2009.

He was a lifelong member of the Quad Cities Bass Club and participated in many tournaments.

His hobbies were sitting on his porch, spending time with family and friends, bass fishing, and shopping for fishing lures.

Survivors include his wife; his children, Derek (Kristi) Cooksey and Melissa Villalpando (Kristin Schutt), all of Davenport; his grandchildren, Taylor, Tyler, Emma, and Erek; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Lisa (Terry) Holland, Rock Island; four sisters-in-law; and two brothers-in-law.

He was preceded in death by his mother; father; stepfather, Paul Bowling; and a great-granddaughter.
