Obituary: Curtis Stoltenberg

A funeral service for Curtis G. Stoltenberg, 89, of Marion, formerly of Davenport, was held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 5, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Davenport. Burial was in Lowden. Visitation was Friday, Jan. 4, from 4:30-7:30 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Mr. Stoltenberg died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2018.

Curtis Stoltenberg was born April 21, 1929, in Davenport, the son of Gilbert and Adele (Burmeister) Stoltenberg.

He served in the U.S. Navy from 1950-1954.

He married Dorlene Licht in Davenport in September of 1956. She died in 1983. He married Nancy Mangelsdorf Crownover in Davenport in 1993. She died in 2009.

He was employed by Alcoa Works and John Deere, and then worked as a job analyst at the Rock Island Arsenal before working at the Corps of Engineers in Sacramento, Calif.

He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where he was an elder, an usher, a member of the church board, and attended bible study.

His hobbies were artwork and swimming.

Survivors include his daughters, Linda Stoltenberg, Cedar Rapids, and Lorie Payne, Lake Elsinore, Calif.; a stepdaughter, Carrie Detlefs; a stepson, John Crownover; his grandchildren, Emily, Sarah and Andrea Payne; and his step-grandchildren, Stephen and Amanda Detlefs.

In addition to his wives, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Juanita and Lorene, and a brother, Oliver.
