Obituary: Clarice Mizer

A funeral service for Clarice Ann Mizer, 87, of LeClaire, was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 21, at Hope Church, LeClaire. Burial was in Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire. Visitation was Monday, May 20, from 5-7 p.m. at the Runge Mortuary, Davenport.

Mrs. Mizer died Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at her home.

Clarice Travis was born July 10, 1931, in Muscatine, the daughter of Lucy and Garland Travis. She graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1949.

She married Roy Mizer in September of 1949. He died in 2003.

She was a member of the church, where she had served as deaconess, Sunday school teacher and Women’s Missionary Leader.

Her hobbies were fishing with her husband, making quilts for family and friends, reading, and listening to gospel music.

Survivors include her daughters, Kathleen (Dan) Barnthouse, Centerville, Iowa, and Judith (Chris) Hoelewyn, Little Rock, Ark.; a son, Mike (Deb) Mizer, LeClaire; nine grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandy; two sisters, Lois and Marilyn; and four brothers, Garland, James, Cliff, and John.
