Obituary: Carole Stuhr

Carole Stuhr, 79, of Bennett, died peacefully in her home on Tuesday, Sept. 25, 2018, from complications of cancer. Funeral services were held Saturday, Sept. 29, at 10:30 a.m., at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, with the Rev. Ronald Lashmit officiating. Burial followed in the Inland Cemetery, Bennett. Visitation was held on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Fry’s. A general memorial fund has been established in her memory, and online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.

Carole was born on June 13, 1939, in Davenport. She was the daughter of Elmer and Leah Hesse Wiese. Carole started school in Allen’s Grove School, which was a one-room school, and then graduated from Davenport School. On May 3, 1958, she was united in marriage to Howard H. Stuhr in Bennett, a marriage that lasted over 60 years.  Carole worked at Wabash Transformer for 15 years and then worked for CDS for 10 years until she retired. Carole loved to cook and bake and always had cookies, pies and cakes all around, but her family was her biggest love of all.

Carole is survived by her husband, Howard, of Bennett; children, Kimberly (Brian) Hudson of Tipton, Keely (Steve) Simon of Tipton, Shannon (Colin) Hermiston of New Liberty, and Kory Stuhr of Bennett; brothers, Dale Wiese of Eldridge, Gary Wiese of Donahue, Merle Wiese of Eldridge, and Jerry Wiese of Council Bluffs; seven grandchildren, Allison, Kara, Kelsey, Chase, Carsyn, Jared and Morgan; three great-grandchildren, Marshall, Addelynn and Kamron. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Kathy, grandson Austin and her brother, Eldon.
