A private burial service for Betty J. Urmie, 87, of Walcott, was held Friday, Nov. 23, at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. The Runge Mortuary, Davenport, assisted the family with arrangements.
Mrs. Urmie died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018, at her home.
Betty Adams was born Sept. 17, 1931, in Clarence, Mo., the daughter of Walter and Blanche (Perrigo) Adams.
She married Raymond Urmie on July 14, 1951, in Davenport. He preceded her in death.
She farmed with her husband and worked for the Davenport Community School District.
Her hobbies were weaving rugs, gardening, and spending time outdoors on the farm.
Survivors include her children, Carol (Dr. Michael) Boblit and Mary (David) Mellon, all of Davenport, Ray Urmie, Moline, and Daniel (Nancy) Urmie, Long Grove; her grandchildren, Melissa (Dustin) Edkin, Amy (Joe) Richter, and Samantha (Reid) Grunwald; a step-grandson, Andrew Mellon; five great-grandchildren; and a sister, Gladys Reamy, Moline.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by an infant granddaughter, Kathleen Urmie; a sister, Nadine Raines; and a brother, Lendell Adams.
Memorials may be made to the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City or the Walcott Fire Department.
