Obituary: Betty Hamilton

A funeral service celebrating the life of Betty J. Hamilton, 83, of Eldridge, formerly of the Princeton-LeClaire area, was held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 25, at Our Savior Presbyterian Church, Argo. Visitation was two hours prior to the service on Saturday at the church. Chambers Funeral Home, Eldridge, assisted the family with arrangements.

Mrs. Hamilton died Tuesday, Nov. 21, 2017, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf.

Betty Lively was born July 28, 1934, in Princeton, the daughter of James and Vera (Auliff) Lively. She graduated from LeClaire High School in 1953.

She married James Hamilton on April 20, 1955, at Our Savior Presbyterian Church, Argo.

She was a homemaker, farm wife, rural U.S. mail carrier, and later in life ran a restaurant in Trout Creek, Mich.

She was a lifelong member of Our Savior Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include her children, Joni Zauhar, St. Petersburg, Fla., Robert Hamilton (fiancée Mary Swanson), Princeton, Jane (Loren) Niemann, DeWitt, and Jay (Jenny) Hamilton, Davenport; grandchildren, Zachary, Rachel, and Natalie Zauhar, Lindsay and Lucas Hamilton, Hannah Niemann, and Lucy, Winston, John, and Rose Hamilton; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary (Fred) Boley, LeClaire, and a brother, Robert (Barb) Lively, DeWitt.

She was preceded in death by a grandson, Levi Hamilton, and a son-in-law, William Zauhar.
