A funeral service for Bertha E. Swanson, 95, of Muscatine, was held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 3, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Burial was in the Rural 16 Cemetery. Visitation was Sunday, Dec. 2, from 1-3 p.m. at the mortuary.
Mrs. Swanson died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2018, at Premier Estates.
Bertha Schlitter was born Dec. 11, 1922, in rural Allamakee County, Iowa, the daughter of Otto and Pearl (Cahoon) Schlitter.
She married Chester Swanson on Feb. 14, 1952, at Edgington Presbyterian Church, Taylor Ridge, Ill. He preceded her in death.
Her hobbies were sewing, playing bingo, cooking, baking, fishing, listening to country music, and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include her sons, Tim Swanson, Davenport, and Alan Swanson, Muscatine; and a grandson, Matthew Swanson.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter-in-law, Laurie; her sisters, Carrie, Agnes, Hazel, Dorothy, Lena, and Laura; and her brothers, Harold, Rus, Leo, Fritz, and Henry.
