Mildred VenHorst to mark 95th birthday with family

Posted

Mildred E. (Schnoor) VenHorst will be celebrating her 95th birthday. She and her husband’s six children, Robert (Suzy) VenHorst and Mary (Doug) Stimpson of Bettendorf, Marsha (Dr. Michael) Beck of LeClaire, Scott (Annette) VenHorst of Eldridge, Nancy (the late Wayne) Jones of Fort Worth, Texas, and Karen (Rod) Kluever of Delmar, have planned a family dinner.

Mildred was born on Nov. 13, 1923, in rural Davenport, to John and Edna (Brehmer) Schnoor. She married Harry A. VenHorst on April 12, 1944, and raised six children, as well as helped her husband farm. She also took care of her chickens, delivering farm-fresh eggs to many local restaurants.

She was a 4-H leader, served on the Scott County Extension Council, belonged to Liedertafel Ladies, holding several offices in that organization, was involved with Farm Bureau, helped with St. Anthony’s Window Ministry, and has enjoyed traveling, especially to visit her daughter in Texas. She is now enjoying herself playing cards with her Grand Haven friends and staying in touch with her sister and other family members. She has 17 grandchildren and just welcomed her 20th great-grandchild.

Send birthday wishes to Mildred at Grand Haven at 201 E. Franklin St., #401, Eldridge, IA 52748.
