Will 2018 see the world's last polio case?

Linda's "Our Past" column observes that 40 years ago, in January 1978, for the first time, Iowa law required students to be immunized against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio, measles and rubella before they could attend school. North Scott had the best compliance among districts in Scott County, but still, 11 students were unable to attend classes.
