Obituary: Theodore Thompson

A memorial service for Theodore “Ted” N. Thompson, 79, of Davenport, was held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, March 13 in The Runge Mortuary Chapel, Davenport.

Mr. Thompson died Sunday, March 10, 2013, at Genesis West Medical Center, Davenport.

Theodore Thompson was born Nov. 7, 1933, in Muscatine, the son of Averill and Matilda (Lobert) Thompson. He married Linda Redmon on Aug. 8, 1959, in Moline.

Mr. Thompson retired in 1985 from John Deere Plow-Planter Works as a toolroom supervisor and was a tool and die maker.

He was a member of the Grand Lodge of Iowa AF&AM, Fratrenal Lodge 221, where he served as treasurer; Mohassan Grotto, where he served as a trustee; Mohassan Grotto Model T Patrol, where he served in many capacities; Mohassan Grotto Bingo Packet Packers, where he served as treasurer; Quad-City Bass Club, and St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Davenport.

His hobbies were fishing, hunting, camping and gardening.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Hospital or a favorite charity.

Survivors include his wife; sons, Dan, Davenport, and Tim (Eileen), Blue Grass; granddaughters, Emily, Samantha, and Taylor; sisters, Dorothea Rugland, Carol Jean Cade, and Pat (Fred) Perry; brothers, A.R. (Sharon), and Kenneth; and sisters-in-law, Lonnie Thompson and Ginny Greenfield.

He was preceded in death by twin infant sons, David and Robert, and brothers, Robert and Tom.
