Memorial services for Ruth Walker Rutenbeck, 96, of Eldridge, formerly of DeWitt, will be Saturday, May 11 at 2 p.m. at the DeWitt Methodist Church. The Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Rutenbeck died Friday, March 1, 2013, at Grand Haven Retirement Community, Eldridge.

Ruth Walker was born on Feb. 10, 1917, the daughter of W.H. (Harry) and Myrtle (Peters) Walker. She graduated from DeWitt High School, Stephens College in Columbia, Mo., and the University of Iowa.  She married William L. Rutenbeck on Nov. 22, 1945, at the home of her parents.  He died March 20, 1998.

Mrs. Rutenbeck was a member of the church, a past president and lifelong member of Chapter BG, P.E.O., DeWitt Hospital Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, and Alumnae Associates of Stephens College, and the University of Iowa.
Memorials may be made to DeWitt United Methodist Church and the Central Performing Arts Committee of DeWitt Central Schools.

Survivors include John and Carol Rutenbeck, Burlington, William (Bill) Rutenbeck and wife Suzanne Kroon, Plymouth, Minn., and James (Jim) Rutenbeck and wife Marianne Tommasini of Waban, Mass.; grandchildren, Lindsay Rutenbeck Gahn, and husband Travis Gahn, Annika Rutenbeck, Megan Rutenbeck and husband Alex Jansky, Liza Rutenbeck and husband Matt Dubach, and Anthony Rutenbeck; and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Alice Walker Doughty.
