Services in celebration of the life of Pearl Ackerman Hickey, 94, of Davenport, were held at 1 p.m. Friday, March 1 at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, with Chaplain Steve Hayes officiating. Burial was in the Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Hickey died Tuesday, Feb. 26, 2013, at the Davenport Lutheran Home.
Pearl Groth was born in 1918 in Randville County, Minnesota, the daughter of William and Anne Groth. She married Frank Ackerman on May 23, 1936, in Chicago. He died May 3, 1967. She married Lawrence Hickey on Aug. 30, 1975, in Davenport. He died Jan. 3, 1995.
Mrs. Hickey worked for the Rock Island Arsenal and later for Oscar Mayer Credit Union.
She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, Order of the Eastern Star, and Davenport Fire Auxiliary.
Her hobbies were family time, cooking, baking, ballroom dancing, gardening, playing cards, vacationing in Las Vegas, and the local slots.
Memorials may be made to Gigi’s Playhouse Quad-Cities (Down Syndrome Awareness Center).
Survivors include a daughter, Carol (Ronald) Storjohann, Blue Grass; grandchildren, Denise (Mark) Rheinecker, Dawn (Mark) Taghon, Dana (Dana) Moline, Darin (Tracy) Storjohann, Brad (Malinda) Roe, Janine Roe, and Rhonda (Mark) Mason; 17 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Armand, Davenport; and a brother, Ralph Groth, Davenport.
In addition to both husbands, she was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Dixie and Ronald Roe; a great-granddaughter; sisters, Elsie Mildt, Alice Stoltenberg, and Norma Lansing; and a brother, Elmer Groth.
