Funeral services for Vera Mae Brown, 96, of LeClaire, were held at noon on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial was in the Glendale Cemetery, LeClaire.

Mrs. Brown died peacefully on Sunday, Jan. 27, 2013, at Hope Creek Rehabilitation and Nursing Home, East Moline.

Vera Auliff was born Jan. 9, 1917, in LeClaire, the daughter of Robert and Iva (Fletcher) Auliff. She attended Princeton schools. She married James Lively in 1934. He died Oct. 25, 1970. She married Howard Brown on Jan. 12, 1980, in Davenport. He died Feb. 15, 2002.

She lived her entire life in the LeClaire, Princeton and DeWitt areas. In later years was a snowbird, visiting Bradenton, Fla.

Mrs. Brown was a member of Our Savior Presbyterian Church, and Women of the Moose, Davenport.

Her hobbies were horses, raising chickens, her garden and flowers, dancing, playing cards, reading, cooking and baking pies.

Memorials may be made to the church.

Survivors include daughters, Betty Hamilton, Eldridge, Mary (Fred) Boley, LeClaire, Bonnie (Ed) Mohr of Illinois, and Sue (Kenneth) Oetzmann, Davenport; a son, Robert Lively (Barb), DeWitt; grandchildren, Joni Zauhar, Robert Hamilton, Jane (Loren) Niemann, Jay (Jennifer) Hamilton, Pamela (Keith) Ellis, Steven (Becky) Boley, Lisa (Michael) Morthland, Stacey Roth, Jennifer (Jeff) Poell, Jamie (Tina) Lively, Tracey Ruge, Tim (Jennifer) Oetzmann, Jodie Wilford, and Lori (David) Rupp; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Iva Auliff, Princeton; and a brother-in-law, Walter Brown, LeClaire.

In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a brother, Alvin Auliff, and a great-grandson.
