Funeral services for Donald M. Ballard, 88, of Moline, were held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20 at DeRoo Funeral Home, Moline. Burial was in the Moline Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Ballard died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis.
Donald Ballard was born Nov. 11, 1924, in Rock Island, the son of Jesse and Elizabeth (Mosher) Ballard. He married Verna Wells on Sept. 13, 1947, in Iowa City. She died Feb. 22, 2003.
Mr. Ballard served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was owner-operator of Don’s TV Repair, Moline, and later was employed at Rock Island Arsenal for 30 years, retiring as a property disposal officer on Oct. 22, 1982.
His hobbies were golfing, fishing, hunting, camping, and antiquing.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon Genung, Moline; sons, Alan and wife Debbie, Moline, and Dean, Park View; grandchildren, Amanda, Travis, and Jason; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Bob.
