Mewes
Dellwyn Meewes, 88, of Oak Park, Ill., died Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at his home. Visitation was held Tuesday, Feb. 19 and the funeral on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at the Ascension Catholic Church. Internment was in the Queen of Heaven Cemetery.
Dellwyn Meewes was born Sept. 2, 1924, in Dixon, the son of Helen Boll and Robert Meewes. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1942. He married Nora Duffy on Sept. 27, 1947.
Mr. Meewes joined the Army in 1942 and served three and a half years.
He went to electrician school in Chicago.
Memorials may be made to the school fund at the Ascension Parish.
Survivors include his wife; children, Don (Susan), and Eileen (Sergio) Diaz, both of Tennessee, and Maureen (Fred) Hewitt, and Robert (Jacqueline), all of Chicago; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and a sister, Elaine (Don) Schneckloth, Davenport.
