Obituary: Dave Barnard

Robert “Dave” Barnard, 69, of Fenton, Ill., died Monday, Jan. 28, 2013, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Per his wishes, private family services were held, with Pastor Rita Wolf, pastor at The Bridge at Beans, Sterling, Ill., officiating. Interment was in the Riverside Cemetery, Prophetstown, Ill. The Bosma-Gibson Funeral Home, Prophetstown, was in charge of arrangements.

Dave Barnard was born Feb. 17, 1943, in LaGrange, Ill., the son of Hugh and Rosa Catherine Barnard. He was a graduate of Bettendorf High School. He married Annette Anderson on April 29, 1978, in Moline. She died Dec. 15, 2006.

Mr. Barnard was a welder at Alcoa Aluminum in Riverdale for 37 years, retiring in 2000.

His hobbies were carpentry, astronomy, gardening, photography, welding, and motorcycles.

Memorials may be made to the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House or a charity of choice.

Survivors include stepchildren, Shelley, Amber, Sean, and Tom Schipper; sisters, Pat (Otto) Wendhausen, LeClaire, B.J. “Betty” (Jim) Wilson, Galesburg, Ill., Peggy Barnard, Bettendorf, and Debra Barnard, Davenport; and brothers, Don (Glenda), Bloomington, Ill., Dale, Kingston, Tenn., and Dwight, Davenport.
