Wayne Dietz
Services for Wayne Edwin Dietz, 82, of Davenport, were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints, Davenport. Pallbearers were Bart Bassier, Steven, Andrew, Jeff, and Gary Dietz, and Tyler Jorgensen. Intermemt was held at the Walcott Cemetery.
Mr. Dietz died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at University Hospitals, Iowa City.
Wayne Dietz was born June 21, 1930, in Davenport, the son of Herbert and Ella (Kruse) Dietz. He graduated from Davenport High School in 1947. He married Grace Farthing on Oct. 28, 1951, in Chadwick, Ill.
Mr. Dietz farmed in Scott County and later worked for Walcott Mutual Insurance Company, retiring in 2012.
He was a member of the church, Davenport 1st Ward, Walcott Community Club, Knights of Pythias, and a social member of the Walcott American Legion.
His hobbies were playing cards, dancing, music, and flying. In early years he had been a 4-H leader and president of the Scott County Farm Bureau.
Memorials may be made to the Walcott American Legion.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Pam Dietz, Davenport; sons, Gary and wife Diane, Frisco, Texas, and Jeff and wife Nora, Davenport; grandchildren, Jennifer Glasgow, Kimberlee McGuirrin, Stephanie Cryer, Steven Dietz, Michelle Jorgensen, Whitney Teerlink, Angela Bassier, and Andrew Dietz; and 23 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth.
