Life Memorial services for Warren G. Ewen, 87, of LeClaire, were held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5 at the Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, with the Rev. Anne Lippencott officiating. Interment was in the Okoboji Cemetery, Arnolds Park, Iowa.
Mr. Ewen died Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013, at Genesis East Medical Center, Davenport, during open heart surgery.
Warren Ewen was born in 1925 in Milford, Iowa, the son of Roscoe and Freida Ewen. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Veneta DeWitt on Aug. 14, 1946, in Worthington, Minn. He graduated from the University of Iowa in 1949.
Mr. Ewen was an electrical engineer for the former Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company for 39 ½ years, retiring in 1989.
He was a member of the American Legion, Rotary, the Republican Party, and St. John’s United Methodist Church, Davenport, and First United Methodist Church, Fort Dodge, and was active on both church boards.
His hobbies were golfing, bridge, theater, reading, woodworking, and world traveling.
Memorials may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church, Davenport, or the American Heart Association.
Survivors include his wife; daughters, Terry (Lee) Raiford, Rockford, Ill., and Kristin Koolker, Minneapolis; a son, Eric (Sheila), Katy, Texas; grandchildren, Michka, Jeff, Karen, Laura, Kevin, Valerie, Mack and Kit; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Keith and Roger.
