Private funeral services for Paul David Hein, 87, of Davenport, were held on Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. Burial was in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Davenport.
Mr. Hein died Sunday, Dec. 30, 2012, at the Iowa Masonic Health Care Facility, Bettendorf.
Paul Hein was born Sept. 11, 1925, in Dubuque, the son of Michael and Mabel (Strong) Hein. He married Myra Chance on July 21, 1945, in Davenport. She died in February 2004.
Mr. Hein worked for 36 years as an induction hardening operator at the International Harvester Farmall Works in Rock Island, retiring in 1980. Following his retirement he worked an additional seven years at the former Davenport Bank & Trust Company.
He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. In earlier years he was a member of the Davenport Moose.
His hobbies were raising white pigeon doves, reading, puzzles, drawing, and spending time with his grandsons.
Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna (Robert) Hein-Stickling, Blue Grass; a son, Paul, Davenport; a daughter-in-law, Theresa Hein, Blue Grass; and grandsons, Timothy and Chad.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by sisters, Elaine and Vivian, and brothers, John and William.
