Funeral services to celebrate the life of Joy E. Mehmert, 103, of Davenprt, formerly of Fort Madison, were held Monday, Dec. 31, 2012, at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial will be in the Sacred Heart Cemetery, Fort Madison. The body was cremated.
Mrs. Mehmert died Thursday, Dec. 27, 2012, at the Davenport Lutheran Home.
Joy Erickson Davis was born March 16, 1909, in Montrose, Iowa, the daughter of Preston and Mary Davis. She married Ernest Mehmert. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Mehmert had worked for the Schaefer Pen Company for 42 years.
Following retirement she volunteered for several organizations, including the Grey Ladies at the local hospital, Fort Madison Welcome Center, and her local polling place.
She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Fort Madison.
Memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
Survivors include a son, Robert, Davenport; grandchildren, Mary Beth (David) Neighbour, and David (Jennifer) Mehmert; and three great-grandchildren.
