Funeral services for Henrietta Marie Schmidt, 94, of Clinton, were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 28 at Zion Lutheran Church, Clinton, with the Rev. Jennifer Henry officiating. Pallbearers were David, Robert, and Bill Schmidt, John Hart, John Coonfare, and Dean Gruhn. Burial was in the Clinton Lawn Cemetery. The Clinton Chapel Snell-Zornig Funeral Homes & Crematory was in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Schmidt died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at The Alverno Health Care Facility, Clinton.
Henrietta Ketelsen was born Sept. 24, 1918, in Wilton Township, the daughter of Nicholas and Augusta (Friederichsen) Ketelsen. She graduated from Clinton High School in 1937. She married Lyle Schmidt on Sept. 10, 1941, at the Zion Lutheran Church. He died May 6, 1966.
Mrs. Schmidt was a homemaker most of her adult life.
She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Clinton and Davenport.
Her hobbies were being with her family, watching the eagles soar, the pelicans, ducks and geese swim, and birds and boats, and fish bobbing in the river, reading, watching TV, Chicago Bears and Cubs, golf and game shows, doing crossword puzzles and scratch-off lottery tickets.
Memorials may be made to either church.
Survivors include a son, Donald (Diane), LeClaire; grandchildren, David (Kathy), John, and Robert (Carrie); three stepgrandchildren, Tammy (John) Hart, Victoria (Scott) MacDonald, and John Coonfare; four great-grandchildren; nine step-great-grandchildren; a step-great-great-grandchild; and a sister-in-law, Pearl Ketelsen.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Christine, Irma, Anne, Amanda, and Sophia, and brothers, Chris, Carl, Alfred, Arthur, and Peter.
