Obituary: Dale Braack

Dale Braack

Dale E. Braack, 72, a resident of Eldridge, died Thursday, Jan. 3, 2013, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House in Bettendorf.

Funeral services celebrating his life were held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 7, 2013, at Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge. Burial was in the Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Faith Lutheran Church or the Eldridge Fire Department. Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge assistsed the family with arrangements.

Born on Feb. 20, 1940, in Davenport, he was the son of Werner and Cleone (Coyle) Braack. On Aug. 31, 1962, at Faith Lutheran Church, he married Suzanne Ewoldt.

Dale was a painter by trade for over 30 years.

He was a charter member of the Eldridge Jaycees and a member of the Eldridge Fire Department for 25 years, five years serving as fire chief. Dale was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Eldridge.

Dale and Suzanne were avid travelers, visiting all 50 states. He had a love for gardening, specializing in tomatoes. He was an exceptional cook. Dale was an avid fisherman, traveling to Wisconsin for one and two weeks at a time during the spring and fall seasons. He loved spending time with his family, enjoying the time spent watching his grandchildren play sports.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Suzanne, of Eldridge; his daughters, Stacy Braack of Chicago, Ill., and Betsy (Andy) Weil of Wilmette, Ill.; three grandchildren, Joe and Ellie D’Attomo and Haley Weil; and one brother, Barry (June) Braack of Eldridge.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Audrey.
