A celebration of life gathering for Arthur LeRoy Christner, 87, of LeClaire, will be held on Saturday, Feb. 2 at the LeClaire Civic Center from 1:30-4 p.m. The body was cremated. A private burial will be held at a later date.
Mr. Christner died at his winter home in Mission, Texas.
Arthur Christner was born on Aug. 10, 1925, in Lost Springs, Kans., the son of Alfred and Mildred (Bramble) Christner. He married Betty Spinsby on Oct. 16, 1948, in Davenport. She died Jan. 23, 2003.
Mr. Christner served in the Navy during World War II.
He was employed at Alcoa for 30 years, retiring in September 1983.
His hobbies were fishing, camping, and spending winters in Texas.
Memorials may be made to the family.
Survivors include a daughter, Cindy and husband Dennis Gibson, Davenport; a son, Randy and wife Julie, LeClaire; daughters-in-law, Linda Christner and Carolyn Christner, both of LeClaire; grandchildren, Bob (Angela) Christner, Jeff (Julie) Christner, Jason (Kris) Christner, Jenny (Terry) Cary, and Jared (Megan) Christner; seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mary McCoy, Las Vegas.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by sons, Rick and Ronald; sisters, Mabel and Freida; and brothers, William, Robert, Jay and Jack.
