The dictionary offers several definitions for the word “progress,” and all of them fit what will be showcased in a special event this Thursday, Jan. 31, in Eldridge.
The definitions include:
A moving forward or onward; forward course or development; advance toward perfection or to a higher or better state; improvement.
Visitors to the first-ever North Scott Progress Show will see plenty of examples of area businesses and organizations moving forward, developing, advancing and improving themselves and our community.
The NS Progress Show will feature more than 40 exhibitors at the Eldridge Community Center, 400 S. 16th Ave., in Eldridge. Doors will open at 2 p.m., and the show will run until 7 p.m.
Admission is free, and there will be food and refreshments available for purchase. Attendees also can register for door prizes.
Attendees will have an opportunity to make a free-will donation in support of the Eldridge Volunteer Fire Department. “There is no obligation, but it’s our way of saying thanks,” said NS publisher Bill Tubbs.
“There will be a wide variety of exhibitors, with very little duplication,” said organizer Jeff Martens, advertising manager at The North Scott Press, the presenting sponsor of the Progress Show. “This is a great event to bring the whole family. We’re expecting a huge crowd!”
Sponsors for the NS Progress Show are: APAC Customer Services, CSI Homes, Culligan , and Genesis Physical Rehabilitation. Providing entertainment will be Wayne Littell’s Blue Chips in the afternoon, and Davenport North’s show choir, Tina’s Dance Studio, and Mellennia Martial Arts later in the day.
