Obituary: Ralph Miller

Ralph Miller Jr., 87, died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2012.

A memorial service was held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 13 at the United Methodist Church, Eldridge. The funeral will be held at Wonderly Horvath Hanes

Funeral Home in Fremont, Ohio, on Wednesday, Dec. 19 (today). Burial will be at the Oakwood Cemetery in Fremont.

Ralph Miller was born Sept. 15, 1925, in Fremont, the son of Ralph and Mary Miller. He married Doris Moor on Oct. 15, 1950.

Mr. Miller served in the Navy in World War II. He retired from the U.S. Army Weapons Command, Rock Island Arsenal, after 41 years of service.

He was a 50-year member of Barnard Masonic Lodge 338 in Fremont, Scottish Rite 32, KAABA Shrine, and American Legion in Davenport.

His hobbies were woodworking, projects around the house, golfing and making golf clubs, the casino, and going out for breakfast with family and friends.

Survivors include children, Amie (Mike) McAndrews, Knoxville, Tenn., Darcey (Mike) DeSpain, Danville, Iowa, and Matt Miller, Bondurant; grandchildren, Matthew and Marshall McAndrews, Malinda Johnson, Aubrey Miller, Nathan DeSpain, Mia Miller, Evan, Isaac, and Morgan Beitz, Rob DeSpain, and Jenny Adkins; and five great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by twin sons, Ralph and Roland, and a sister, Betty.
