Funeral services to celebrate the life of Patricia Mae Wakeland, 78, of Bettendorf, were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 6 at the Halligan-McCabe-DeVries Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial was in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.
Mrs. Wakeland died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2012, at the Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Patricia Cassilly was born March 14, 1934, in Davenport, the daughter of Merle and Margaret (Zirkel) Cassilly. She graduated from LeClaire High School. She married Donald Wakeland on Sept. 20, 1952, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, LeClaire.
Mrs. Wakeland worked for Iowa Bearing Company and retired from the former Montgomery Elevator Company in 1990. Following retirement she delivered newspapers for the Quad-City Times. She also worked as a demo assistant at Eagle Food Center stores, Target Superstore, and Sam’s Club.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Hannah Caldwell Chapter.
Her hobbies were knitting, scrapbooking, gardening, her family and Elvis.

Survivors include her husband; a daughter, Debbie White, Eldridge; sons, Steve and wife Paula, Pleasant Valley, Mark and wife Jean, Paul and wife Lorrie, and David, all of Bettendorf; a daughter-in-law, Carol Wakeland, Davenport; grandchildren, Meghan (Josh) Peterson, Angela (Jake) Klemme, Trisha (Keith) Braafhart, Michele Wakeland, Ben (Angie) Wakeland, Bryan (Karen) Wakeland, Jeff, Jon, and Tommy Wakeland, and Jacob White; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Nicole Wakeland; and a sister and brother-in-law, Beverly and Dr. Jim Hodges.
