Obituary: Elsie L. Roenfeldt

Funeral services for Elsie L. Roenfeldt, 89, of Davenport, will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 27 at The Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Visitation will be held Wednesday (today) from 4-7 p.m. at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Roenfeldt died Saturday, Dec. 22, 2012, at Manor Care-Utica Ridge, Davenport.

Elsie Creighton was born Dec. 2, 1923, in Potomac, Ill., the daughter of Herbert and Frieda (Shields) Creighton. She married Charles Roenfeldt on May 3, 1941, in Davenport. He died May 5, 2002.

Mrs. Roenfeldt worked for Sears & Roebuck as a sales clerk for many years. She baked pies for the Bread Man’s Bakery, which was operated with her son at the farmer’s market in downton Davenport.

She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church and the D.A.V. Auxiliary.

Her hobbies were crocheting, knitting, gardening and canning vegetables.

Memorials may be made to the church or Heartland Hospice.

Survivors include children, Anna (John) Ludtke, Davenport, and Charles Jr. (Charlene), Blue Grass; grandchildren, Charles, Steven, John, Heidi, Kimberly, and Eric; 18 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and siblings, Dorothy McCroskey, Maryville, Tenn., and John Creighton, Davenport.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Christina Brinkoetter; a sister, Ruth Jansen; and a brother, Herbert.
