Obituary: Dorothy Long

Celebration of Life services for Dorothy B. Long, 82, of Davenport, were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 14 at Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport. Burial was in the Allens Grove Cemetery, Donahue.

Mrs. Long died Monday, Dec. 10, 2012, at Select Specialty Hospital, Davenport.

Dorothy Mullanix was born in 1930 in Nevada, Iowa, the daughter of Basil and Willa Mullanix. She married Wesley Long on June 3, 1046, in Moberly, Mo. He died Feb. 11, 1992.

Mrs. Long was employed by Eagles Foods at the Village Shopping Center, Davenport, for over 20 years.

She was a member of Vineyard Church, Davenport, Donahue American Legion Women’s Auxiliary, Retail Clerks Union, Alcoa Retirees, and the Quilters Club.

Her hobbies were traveling, quilting, canning, cooking, “Days of Our Lives,” gardening, and her family.

A memorial fund is being established.

Survivors include daughters, Linda (Dennis) Oberlander, Princeton, Murlene Long-Ineichen (Jerry),Davenport; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Long, Davenport; grandchildren, Robert (Michelle) Oberlander, Denise Oberlander-Wheat, Dana Brown, Evan Long-Ineichen, Jelene Ineichen, Brianna Long, Lori (Bill) Newman, Karl McIntosh and Paul (Dawnelle) McIntosh; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Norma (John) Williams, Greentop, Mo.; and a brother, Lyndon Mullanix, La Plata, Mo.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sons, Larry and Brian; a great-grandson; and brothers, John and Pearl.
