Obituary: David Eugene Horner

Funeral services for David Eugene Horner, 64, of Maquoketa, were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24 at the McGinnis-Chambers Funeral Home, Bettendorf. Burial was at the Rock Island National Cemetery.

Mr. Horner died Wednesday, Dec. 19, 2012, at his daughter’s home in Davenport.

David Horner was born Aug. 5, 1948, in Chicago, the son of Lowell and Dorothy (Nyberg) Horner.

Mr. Horner served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He was a mechanic.

His hobbies were fishing, and collecting coins, guns and kerosene lamps.

A memorial fund has been established.

Survivors include his daughters, Christina Horner, Davenport, and Denise Allen, Perry; a son, Dale Allen, Kansas City, Kan.; his mother, Dorothy Horner, Toronto, Iowa; grandchildren, Jeremiah, Olivia, Yadiar, Michael and Izhais; a sister, Dawn Edler, Dixon; and brothers, Daniel, New Castle, Colo., Lowell, Amana, and Douglas, Bellevue.
