Vineta Irene Craig passed away on Friday, Nov. 30, at Manor Care-Utica Ridge.  Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. in The Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation was hour prior to service at the mortuary. Burial was in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made in her name to the Friendly House, Davenport, Iowa.

Vineta (Vi) was born Dec. 17, 1928, in Mill Grove, Mo., the daughter of William Harley and Sylvia Della (Kinnison) Miller. She married Roy Dean Craig in 1951. She later married Byron Personns in Clarksville, Ark., where they lived til his death in 2000.

When she was young she worked part time for the local telephone company as a switchboard operator in Millerton, Iowa. She also worked at a care facility in Corydon, Iowa, and a care facility in Detroit, Mich. When she moved back to Davenport in 2001 from Arkansas, she did volunteer work for RSVP at CASI, logging 2,466.5 hours up until her health declined in 2010.

She was a member of Quint Cities Baptist Church.

She enjoyed going to the Friendly House, playing Bingo, putting together puzzles, and playing cards. She loved her family and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her daughter, Pam and son-in-law, Myron Anderson, Eldridge, Iowa; grandchildren, Angel, George, Craig and Miranda; great-grandchildren, Lauren, Jillian, Ally and Dylan; sister, Elizabeth Harmon, Fort Smith, Ark.; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, two sisters, two brothers, one niece, and two brothers-in-law.

The family wants to express our gratitude to all the nursing staff at Manor Care–Utica Ridge for the excellent care that our mom received during her stay. Thank you so much.
