Nadine Pewe

Nadine E. Pewe, 92, of Eldridge, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at Manor Care, Utica Ridge in Davenport.

Family funeral services were held on Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Chambers Funeral Home in Eldridge. Burial followed in Davenport Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Parkinson Foundation or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Nadine was born June 23, 1920, on the family farm in Calamus, Iowa. She was the daughter of Arthur “Doc” & Sarah (Dann) Snyder. She was united in marriage to Henry L. Pewe Jr. on April 9, 1936, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Davenport. He preceded her in death in 1981.

Nadine and Henry had owned and operated the former Conoco station in Eldridge for many years. She enjoyed dancing, playing cards and collecting jewelry. In her earlier years, she had enjoyed sewing her own clothes. She had been a resident of the Grand Haven Retirement Community in Eldridge for the past five years and she greatly enjoyed her time there as a resident.

Those left to honor her memory include her sons, Dion A. Pewe of the St. Louis, Mo., area, and Jan L. Pewe and his companion, LuAnn Weis, of Eldridge; 11 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great grandchildren; her sister, Vivian Fischer of DeWitt, Iowa; her daughter-in-law, Vera Pewe of Durant, Iowa; her brother-in-law, Wilbert Pewe of Davenport; and a special family friend, Janet Pewe of Eldridge.

In addition to her husband, Henry, Nadine was preceded in death by her son, Sylvan H. Pewe; her sister, Yvonne Pewe; her brother William Snyder; and her parents.
