Obituary: Loretta Dengler

Funeral services for Loretta I. Dengler, 94, of Davenport, were held at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 20 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Burial was in the Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.

Mrs. Dengler died Thursday, Nov. 15, 2012, at Manor Care Health Services, Davenport.

Loretta Marxen was born Sept. 27, 1918, in Donahue, the daughter of William and Bertha (Peahl) Marxen. She married Walter Dengler on March 9, 1938, in Cedar Rapids. He died in 1977.

Mrs. Dengler had been employed for 31 years at the former Mercy Hospital in Davenport as a nurse’s aide and secretary, retiring in 1982.

She was a past member of the Davenport Moose Lodge and was a RSVP member.     Her hobbies were cards and playing the organ.

Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.

Survivors include a son, James (Suzanne), Davenport; a granddaughter, Amy Puckett; two great-grandchildren; and sisters, Nina Shannon and Velma Lopez.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by sisters, Minnie Marxen, Irma Gronewolt, Ema Kneipp, Bernice Jones, Ester Schaffer and Vera Gui; and brothers, Alfred, Melvin, Edward, Wilmer and Bernard Marxen.
