Obituary: Dorothy E. Plett

Funeral services for Dorothy E. Plett, 89, of Wilton, were held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15 at the Bentley Funeral Home, Wilton. Pallbearers were her grandchildren, Darrin Plett, Stephanie Broer, John Arlen Jr., Christopher Arlen, Jennifer Bump, Thomas Arlen, Kelly Sorgenfrey, and Robert Arlen. Interment was in the Blue Grass Cemetery.

Mrs. Plett died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at the Leland R. Smith Assisting Living, Wilton.

Dorothy Lenker was born April 2, 1923, in Cedar County, the daughter of Howard and Hallie (Gill) Lenker. She graduated from Wilton High School in 1941. She married Merle Plett on July 21, 1946, in Wilton. He died Jan. 19, 2012.

Mrs. Plett had worked at CDS, Wilton, for over 16 years.

She was a member of Grace United Church of Christ, Wilton, and the Blue Grass American Legion Auxiliary.

Her hobbies were gardening, canning, and spending time with her family and friends.

Memorials may be made to the Leland Smith Assisted Living or Iowa City Hospice.

Survivors include a daughter, Dana and husband John Arlen, Wilton; a son, Larry and wife Germaine, Blue Grass; a daughter-in-law, Vicki Kress-Plett, Wilton; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; sisters, Doris Martin, Davenport, Shelby and husband Duane Parks, Moline, and Carol Kuehl, Bettendorf; and a brother, Dwayne Lenker, Wilton.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, James, and sisters, Mildred Gregory and Ruby Lenker.
