Obituary: Dean Furman

Dean L. Furman, 81, of Bradford, Iowa, passed away Sunday, Nov. 4, 2012, at the Franklin General Hospital. A time of visitation for Dean Furman was held from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Linn’s Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Ave., Iowa Falls. Cremation rights followed visitation and private family burial was held.

Dean LaVere Furman was born June 22, 1931, in Franklin County, Iowa, the son of Irae O. and Ella S. (Meinberg) Furman. He graduated from Hampton High School with the class of 1951.

He entered the U.S. Air Force on Nov. 9, 1951, serving until his honorable discharge on Nov. 8, 1955, serving with the 348th Bomber Squadron in Spokane, Wash.

On July 4, 1953, Dean was united in marriage to Marilyn J. Meyer at Iowa Falls, Iowa. To this union three children were born: Deanna, Donna, and Steven.

After his service he was a truck driver of DX Oil and also River Valley Coop, Eldridge, Iowa.

He was a charter member of the Eldridge Methodist Church.

Dean Furman is survived by his wife, Marilyn Furman of Bradford, Iowa; his children, Deanna (Rod) Schorpp of Flanagan, Ill., Donna (John) Coulter of Earlham, Iowa, and Steven (Cathy) Furman of Davenport; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Dale (Imogene) Furman of Hampton, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Irae and Ella Furman, and one brother, Duane Furman.
