Darrell Thomsen

Darrell E. Thomsen, 70, of Long Grove, Iowa, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012, at University Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012, at 10 a.m. at Park View Lutheran Church. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2012, (today) at the church.

Darrell was born March 6, 1942, in Scott County, a son of Earl and Vida (Olson) Thomsen. He was a graduate of North Scott High School and served in the Iowa National Guard in Mount Joy, Iowa. He retired from Alcoa following 36 years of service. Following that he worked for Kinkos as a delivery driver for 11 years and then for Fred Priester Landscaping.

An avid fisherman, he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his granddaughter. He touched the lives of many with his generous heart and helping hands. He was a brother in Christ at Park View Lutheran Church, and a member of Donahue American Legion.

Those left to honor his memory are his wife, Nancy; daughter, Robin and son-in-law Kevin Green of Long Grove; son, Scott and wife Angie Thomsen of McCausland; a granddaughter, Zaylee May Thomsen; two brothers, Ken and wife Janice Thomsen of Long Grove, and Wayne and wife Pat Thomsen of Blue Grass; sister-in-law, Jeanetta; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and nephew, Randy Thomsen.
