Letter to the editor: Criticism of supervisors begs explanation

  1. Personal attacks, by definition, attack the persons, not their actions. There is a huge difference between saying “Person X is bad” and “Person X’s actions were bad.” I carefully scanned Mr. Bare’s letter and did not find one single instance where he attacked anyone personally.

    Also, a lack of civility implies juvenile name-calling. I do not see where the phrases “colluded to suppress information,” “highly questionable conduct,” “treated the public with disdain,” “such behavior defines socialism,” “lost its way,” etc. show that Mr. Bare was not civil. He expressed strong disagreement with the Board’s actions in an intelligent, mature, thoughtful manner.

    Finally, did you know that one can “personally speak” with anybody and they can tell you whatever you want to hear in a “professional, congenial, polite and helpful” manner regardless of their true feelings and motives? I’ve certainly had my eyes opened in recent months regarding county government.

    Kudos to Mr. Bare for his excellent letter.
