Five-term incumbent Republican Steve Olson cruised to a win over Democratic challenger Ted Whisler in the race for State Representative in District 97. Olson earned 10,082 compared to Whisler’s 6,570 votes, giving the incumbent more than 60 percent of the vote. In Scott County, Olson secured 4,146 votes out of the 6,930 ballots cast.
In the other local race for the Iowa House, Democrat Frank Wood defeated incumbent Ross Paustian in District 92. Wood’s 8,386 votes was enough to beat out Paustian, who received 7,622 votes.
