North Scott will be making its fifth straight post-season appearance when it travels to Bettendorf Wednesday night (Oct. 24), and as the playoff picture continues to develop, seeking a little bit of revenge will be high on the Lancers’ to-do list.
The Lancers are one of seven Mississippi Athletic Conference teams that advanced to the 32-team playoffs, and they’ve drawn a formidable path as the No. 9 seed in the eastern half of the state. Wednesday, the Lancers will be looking to turn the tables on the Bulldogs, who handed them a 36-28 setback in the season opener, and a win over Bettendorf would advance the Lancers into second-round action next Monday at MAC champion Pleasant Valley. The Spartans, who handed the Lancers their last loss (a 28-3 defeat on Sept. 21), will entertain Burlington (3-6) in their playoff opener.
Third-round action is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 2, and teams on North Scott’s side of the bracket include Cedar Falls (8-1), Davenport Central (4-5), Muscatine (7-2) and Cedar Rapids Kennedy (4-5).
