Emily Huffman
Emily “Dessah” Huffman, 94, of Davenport, died peacefully on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2012, at Crest Health Center with her family by her side. According to her wishes, there was a private family service at the National Cemetery, Rock Island. The Weerts Funeral Home, Davenport, assisted the family with arrangements.
She was born in Camanche on May 12, 1918, and graduated from Clinton High School in 1936. She married Donald Huffman on Sept. 13, 1953, in Clinton. He died Oct. 5, 2005.
Mrs. Huffman had worked for 16 years for Vockman Furniture as secretary/treasurer. She later opened and operated Treasureland in the Village Shopping Center, Davenport, for several years until her retirement.
Survivors include a daughter, Priscilla (James) Cronkleton, Davenport; a son, Richard (Kim), Dunlap, Ill.; grandchildren, Brian (Jamie), Emily (Andy), Amy, Lizzy, and Mark; and a great-grandson.
