North Scott beats Muscatine 47-42, improves to 5-3 on the year

Randy Schmidt

The North Scott football team earned what was arguably its biggest win of the year Friday night in Muscatine.

Led by a potent offensive attack, North Scott outlasted the Muskies 47-42. The victory improved North Scott’s record to 5-3 and will likely have major implications on the team’s playoff seeding.

North Scott received major offensive contributions from a number of players, including quarterback Randy Schmidt. Schmidt racked up more than 400 overall yards Friday, including 237 on the ground.

The Lancers QB also connected on touchdown passes to Ricky Grimes and Ty Williams, and Jon Rus led the team with 6 receptions. The rushing attack was solid as well, with running back Josh Linkeman piling up 81 rushing yards and scoring two TDs.

Friday’s win was North Scott’s third consecutive victory after the Lancers got off to a sluggish 2-3 start. They will wrap up the season next Thursday night (Oct. 18) at Davenport Central.
